Vivian Forest Ride #1
This year’s May 2-4 ride was a huge hit.
On Thursday, Ron and Helmut spent a couple hours preparing the trails near the farm for riding.
Friday was the first day of riding. It was beautiful out. We had a few new members join us, one of whom had so much fun he came back on Monday! A couple small groups went out that day, enjoying the lush sandy trails, the technical single tracks, and had a little splash in the pond. We spent that evening sitting around a campfire telling stories and having a god laugh.
Saturday was quite rainy. Typically at OTRA events the ride leaves at 10:00am sharp, but we decided to try to wait out the rain and see if it would let up, which it did! Around noon we all tacked up and proceeded on our big ride. We were all bundled up nice and warm with our rain jackets, but the rain held out until we were almost back at camp. according to one of our new members GPS, we rode 12 km in 3 hours. We had our potluck that night, followed by the OTRA Pictionary Championship!
Sunday was also a bit on the soggy side. We ended up splitting up into two groups, as some members had to leave early. Helmut’s group went up to the North side of the forest and had lunch.
