GREAT NEWS from the OTRA Dufferin Forest Rep –

We are thrilled to share that OTRA has submitted a proposal for a ‘new wilderness network’ in the Dufferin County Main Tract. It will be discussed at next week’s DCFAT meeting October 3, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. 55 Zina Street, Orangeville – Sutton Room (2nd Floor). OTRA prepared this proposal to allow ALL users to share and enjoy a number of beautiful single trails within the Main Tract that are currently unmarked – a true multi-use option! So pleased to be working together with all recreational riders in the forest. We also hope to represent all the many non-riding individuals and groups we could not reach! Endorsement for our proposal so far includes Ontario Equestrian (18,700 members), as well as Dufferin Forest permit holders OTRA (316 members), Chesley Club (312), the Eglington-Caledon Hunt Club (100). We also have just added the Ganaraska Riding Club support and are waiting for a few more replies. Our hopes are that both the Forest Management with the Dufferin Forest Advisory Team, as well as the local mountain bike group and the event organizer for the competitive rides in the Main Tract, will see this proposal to be a very workable option to future trail development. New wilderness trail? So on the west side of Airport Rd?? Member of OE and haven’t been asked for my opinion either way. Enjoy “trail” riding but have no interest in wilderness personally, I hate tromping through waist high weeds !

      Hi Kelly!
Sorry to hear that you don’t like the idea of a Wilderness trail. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be approved, but equestrians will be gaining a new “orange loop” which has a fun section of single track located in Simcoe.
Hope to see you at a ride in the spring!
