URGENT ATTENTION REQUIRED ON SIMCOE FOREST DRAFT CODE OF CONDUCT

As invited attendees of a Simcoe County meeting last December, we have now been asked for INPUT to the Code of Conduct now in DRAFT form.
Mountain bikers are pressuring Simcoe County to limit equestrian access to single track trails.
We have been told the formulation of this final Code of Conduct will be based on input received by August 31, 2018. Your response is timely!! We have an opportunity to voice our concerns now. Many Ontario forests are under pressure from Mt bike groups to restrict horse access. Similar to the situation in Dufferin, complaints about trail damage to “groomed” trails, manure and safety concerns have been presented in cyclist correspondence. As promoters of multi use trails, we want NO mention of any restriction on single track trails. We promote respect for allowing newly developed trail time to setup and riders should use discretion to avoid damage. Our hope is that equestrians can self police and avoid official restrictions
Unlike the situation we now face with limited trail access in Dufferin, we have the opportunity to have our voices heard. Let county know of your love for the single track experience so horses are not relegated to wide trails. Please send your letters today. They welcome your input.

Send constructive comments to forest staff.
